Forty Fort Meetinghouse is a historic meeting house at River Street and Wyoming Avenue in the Old Forty Fort Cemetery in Forty Fort, in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1806–08 in a New England meeting house style with white clapboard siding and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

History

The first European settler in the area came from Connecticut in the late 18th century. In 1768 public lands were set aside in the area for churches by the Susquehanna Company, but because of the Yankee-Penna mite Wars and the American Revolution actual building of the churches was delayed by over 30 years. An unfinished meetinghouse nearby was destroyed after the Battle of Wyoming in 1778.

On 06/23/13 at 1815 hours, members of Deadline Paranormal, Jim, Tony, Chris, Mike, met at Forty Fort Meeting House, and Cemetery. Members were given a brief background on the history of the building by Nancy Lychos, and were also given a quick tour.  Mike also added that in late May at approximately 0130am, while standing in the parking lot of the Forty Fort Borough Building, he and two others observed a dark shadow in one of the second floor windows, which then quickly moved and disappeared.

Our investigation started by setting up our audio and video surveillance using stationary night vision cameras. A REM pod was placed inside on the first floor under the pulpit, along with motion lights. Motion detectors were also placed on the steps and areas in the second floor.  A sweep of the area was also done with our K II Meter for any evidence of electromagnetic spikes that might be present. No electromagnetic spikes were found inside of the building.  We then started documentation with still photography of both floors.  A FLIR camera was also used inside of the building to take photographs.

Tony, and Mike then went inside to conduct a session with  an Ovilus X Box with a DTD Box, also known as a Digital Text Display, REM pod, digital recorder to possibly capture any EVP's, and K II meter. There were four responses from the Ovilus X Box.  They were Carrier, Down, D, and Sent.  No other responses were received.  Mike stated that he felt shivers going up his back, and then once again approximately a minute later.  Nothing else happened during this session, until going outside.

Once outside, Tony and Mike still had the Ovilus X Box hooked up, and responses were then received.  Some of the responses received were, Murphy on two different occasions, Paranormal, Jim, Soldier, Disaster, and Moist.  There was also a spike on the K II meter during this outside session.  Also received was Mommy, Born, and Uncle.  Mike advised that he wondered if his uncle was trying to communicate with him. Mike’s uncle died shortly after being born, and is buried in the Forty Fort Cemetery.

Tony later observed something dark move along the ceiling in one of the first floor cameras. Jim and Chris took still photos of the inside of the meeting house throughout the investigation.

Later while taking a break, Jim and Tony went to the Forty Fort Borough Building, and prior to leaving, the lights in the Fire Department garage turned off, and then quickly turned back on. Jim and Tony believe that this was the doing of Benny, the firefighter that they communicated with during a session at the Borough Building back in April. This was debunked the next day, when Mike discovered that there was actually a power flicker during this time as per Forty Fort's Log.

Upon further investigation, it was learned that an EVP was captured with a digital recorder, while Chris was taking pictures inside of the meeting house.  The EVP sounds like a female saying “I’m still alive”.
