Yadōkai (Japanese):  Translated meaning malevolent, nocturnal spirit. Wandering at night, damaging property, haunting and sometimes injuring people

Yagyō-san (Japanese): Translated meaning demon who rides through the night on a headless horse

Yakubyō-gami (Japanese): Translated meaning disease and misfortune spirit. "Ghost Sick"

Yanari (Japanese): Translated meaning spirit which causes strange noises.  Their version of a Poltergeist.

Yaoguai (Japanese): Translated meaning animalistic demon. Yaoguai are mostly malevolent animal spirits or fallen celestial beings that have acquired magical powers. The evil ones are usually referred to freak or demon. Their goal is achieving immortality.

You Hun Ye Gui (Chinese): Translated meaning wandering ghost. The lost or confused ghost. Confucius said, "Respect ghosts and gods, but keep away from them."

Yuan Gui (Chinese): Translated meaning distressed ghost. Yuan Gui take many forms depending on the way in which the person died, and are often reported to be harmful.

Yūrei (Japanese): Translated meaning ghost described usually dressed in white. White is a color of ritual purity, traditionally reserved for priests and the dead. Yūrei look lifeless with dangling hands from the wrists, which are held outstretched. Yūrei typically lack legs and feet, floating in the air.
